Major event in Frogenrparken

The historic transit of Venus on June 8, 2004 will be celebrated with a major event in one of the most beautiful parks in Europe.

The public can experience the transit with eclipse glasses, telescopes and live images from several locations around Norway, displayed on a 40 m2 screen! In this national happening there will also be lots of other activities and stands with information about astronomy and other natural sciences and the final in a national science competition for children.

Opening hours for the event:

Monday June 7, 14:00 - 21:00 (2pm-9pm)
Tuesday June 8, 06:30-15.00 (06:30am-3pm) This is the big, historic day!

The Monday will be used for preparing ourselves and the public for the historic event taking place the next morning. Eclipse glasses, information etc. will be available. In addition, numerous exciting activities are offered.

The organizers are the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Astronomical Society (NAS) and the Nysgjerrigper Project of the Research Council of Norway. NAS has previously organized several major events in connection with astronomical events.
